There are many ways for community members to volunteer and get involved to support the efforts of Essex County 4-H!

As a 4-H volunteer, you will develop leadership skills and expand your knowledge, gain satisfaction by sharing your knowledge with youth and watching them grow, become an active member of the community, and have many opportunities to meet and share ideas with other adults working to make a positive difference in the lives of youth. Essex County 4-H faculty and staff provide training and guidance for all volunteers working with youth.
- Start a 4-H Club and become a 4-H Leader
- Starting a 4-H club means becoming a leader in youth development, working with 4-H staff to bring your passions to the youth of Essex County. You’ll create a club based off of your knowledge with help from 4-H staff, and run a fun club on a schedule that works best for you! Additionally, you’ll need to pass a background check (free), and undergo a short Professional Youth Development (PYD) training.
- As a 4-H leader, your primary role is to guide young people through hands-on learning, nurturing their Head, Heart, Hands, and Health (the 4-H’s) This involves creating a safe and inclusive space where kids can learn by doing and develop essential life skills.
- Serve on the 4-H Leaders’ Association
- The Essex County 4-H Leaders’ Association is an incorporated non-profit organization of adult volunteers working together with the 4-H staff to develop and provide leadership for the 4-H Program.
- Membership includes 4-H Leaders, community volunteers and parents. Some of our goals are the planning and conducting of county-wide programs and activities, fundraising to support 4-H programs, and supporting the efforts of all 4-H’ers in the County.
- Volunteer at an Essex County 4-H Event!
