Resources:
- Apple Education Initiative is partnering with 4-H and Rutgers University students to engage middle school youth in Computer Science education programs. Programs are offered 1hr a week for 6-12 weeks, and are lead by Rutgers 4-H STEM Educator students. Partners can reach out to plan site-based programs!
- Data to the Rescue is a program designed to connect scientists, educators, and students using data and research from the Arctic and Antarctic regions. This curriculum was developed in partnership with Rutgers University and Polar Scientists across the nation. Educators and club leaders can download the Data to the Rescue facilitator guide and youth workbook. It includes instructions on how to incorporate these adventures into your classes or informal club activities. Partners are invited to contact us for information on educator professional developments or getting free resources for their education programs.
- Explorers of the Deep is a 4-H STEM Challenge designed by Rutgers University and focuses on the mysteries and adventures of ocean exploration—with robots! Ocean exploration helps scientists prepare for and adapt to changing ocean conditions. Many of these changes in ocean conditions are affecting the environment, such as melting glaciers, increasing ocean temperatures, declining fisheries and an increase in frequency and severity of storms. Youth will learn about the incredibly complex relationship between Earth’s oceans and the global climate. Partners can contact our office for free kits!
- Guardians of the Food Galaxy is a curriculum created in partnership with Rutgers 4-H and FCHS. This resource merges climate change education with food waste reduction and plant-based eating initiatives. The goal of the program is to improve school administrations’ and students’ knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors towards adopting healthy and sustainable eating habits.
- Healthy Habits: Food Loss and Waste is an afterschool club curriculum focusing on compost and healthy habits. This curriculum offers school educators and informal educators an opportunity to host a food waste club aimed for middle school aged youth in 4th-8th grades. Curriculum, supplies, and support is provided.
